Bronchoscope - Bronchoscopy is a technique of visualizing the inside of the airways for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. An instrument (bronchoscope) is inserted into the airways, usually through the nose or mouth, or occasionally through a tracheostomy. This allows the practitioner to examine the patient's airways for abnormalities such as foreign bodies, bleeding, tumors, or inflammation. (total cost: $14,000)

 

Holter monitor - a portable device for continuously monitoring various electrical activity of the cardiovasular system for at least 24 hours (often for two weeks at a time). The Holter's most common use is for monitoring heart activity (electrocardiography or ECG), but it can also be used for monitoring brain activity (electroencephalography or EEG). (total cost: $5,000 per unit)
